Brett is a native of Trenton, TN having relocated to the Middle Tennessee area in 2006. He currently resides in Shelbyville, TN with his fiancé Stephanie Renfroe and their miniature dachshund, Willow. Brett and Stephanie met through volleyball several years ago.

 

Brett’s journey in officiating started in 2010 when he joined Murfreesboro Baseball and Softball Association as an umpire. In January 2011, he enrolled in and completed the Professional Umpire Course at the Wendelstedt Umpire School. While not selected for a position in professional baseball this did boost Brett’s career in officiating. After returning from Umpire School, Brett began his career with TSSAA in baseball in the spring of 2011 and registered for volleyball in Fall 2011. He added basketball as his 3rd TSSAA Sport in 2012.

 

Brett has 16 years of baseball umpire experience (TSSAA - 13 yrs), 14 years of basketball referee experience (TSSAA - 13 years), and 16 years of volleyball referee experience (TSSAA - 16 years). He has previous assigning and supervising experience in travel baseball as well as middle school baseball. Brett obtained his USAV Regional Certification in 2022. He has worked the sectional level of all TSSAA sports. Listed below are some of Brett’s major accomplishments across all sports.

Brett brings a love for teaching the craft of officiating and an unparalleled rules knowledge. He has served as a mentor and evaluator in all sports. He has a true love of sports and that is evidenced in his teaching and evaluating, no matter the level.

Wendy has been involved with the sport of Volleyball since the 90’s- as a player, a coach and currently as a referee.
 

She played collegiately at The University of Houston then coached HS, Club and College in Texas before moving to TN in 2014 and coached HS and club here.
 

When she retired from coaching after 31 yrs. she tried her hand at refereeing and absolutely loves it!
 

Wendy has two grown sons, Tyler & Tanner and her13yo Schnauzer-Ellie. She loves hiking, reading, jigsaw puzzles and spending time with her family.

Steve has lived in the Nashville area since coming to Lipscomb in 1984. He is married to Sheila, a lifelong Nashville resident and graduate of Overton High School. He has three grown children, Tyler, Sam and Robyn.

 

Steve umpired baseball for 35 years before becoming a volleyball official in 2015. Since then he
has refereed all levels of volleyball including high school, club, and collegiately at the NAIA, DIII, DII and DI levels for indoor and beach.

 

He earned Junior National USAV Certification in 2017 and his National Indoor Certification in 2019. He also earned his National Beach Certification in 2024. He has been to the USAV and/or AAU National championships each year since 2016, and has been assigned many
championship matches during his career. He has also been to the TN state volleyball championships twice as a line judge and once as a referee. Steve has contributed to USAV and high school associations as an evaluator and a mentor.
